Scribbles

Me and Chele sketched these out online at www.iscribble.net

This one is titled Holi and it means a festival of color. The Children are playing Holi where as the baby who is not allowed to play is sad and crying.

We started with a landscape and ended with a scene where a shepard is playig flute in beautiful surroundings.

The Dad pussy cat has come back from a long tour and has brought flower for his wife who is angry at his long absence.

A Small adventure

“Children, finish your breakfast as fast as you can “said the twins’ mother, your friends will be waiting at town square.Mother, can we go on a camping trip with them? asked Jack brightening up suddenly.

Why not , said his mother. But where ?

Where ? Er _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ I think we will go to Green Island. I will take my raft and the oars. We will all row there. And you know it is summer and in summer there grows all kinds of beautiful flowers and there come cute rabbits. And we can bathe in the sea and there’s a pool were we can swim, that way we won’t feel much hot.

Yes, you can go said his mother laughing. That’s a good idea , Jack sad his brother. Now lets phone our friends and tell the plan and lets pack the tent and everything. And then wait at he Town Square.

Okay, Jim , said Jack. “You will need plenty of food to take with you” said their mother. What would you like to take? Cooked or do you want to cook them yourselves ? Cook them ourselves said Jim. Now lets phone everybody.

Jack phoned everybody. They were very exited. They packed their things and just when they finished their car came and they hurriedly went into it. Bye- Bye said the twins. Bye said their mother. Look after yourselves. After a long drive they reached Town Square. When they reached they saw that Roberta, Janet & Pippa had already been there and waited for them to come. Hi Twins said Pippa. How are you. We have been waiting for you. Why are you so late? Janet smiled and hugged them. Hi Girls said Jack. Where are the others. Oh you have come at last said Roberta and the others went to buy some peppermints. Just then he others came. Hi twins said George. Hi replied the twins. Hi Sid. Sid grinned. Now lets walk to the Jetty and row to the island said Roberta. Don’t waste any time by chattering here. Ok teacher said Pippa grinning. Roberta gave her a friendly punch. Can pippa walk to the Jetty asked Jim. It’s a long way, isn’t it and Pippa is the youngest amongst us. It s about seven miles away. Cant you walk asked Jack? Pippa began to become red with anger when Jim said she can’t walk. I CAN walk she said angrily. Ok Ok nothing to shout you will walk with us said Roberta. They started of for the Jetty. It was a nice way, there were trees, fields, hills and blue sky that made the twins hum a song.Pippa joined them. It was a long way and at last the reached the Jetty. They jumped into the raft, took the oars and began to row strongly. Well done Pippa said Jack you did well. You were not tired after the long seven miles walk, Pippa smiled. Everybody rowed and that way he boat went on very quickly. Let’s each have a Peppermint said Janet. That’s a good idea said George. But where have I kept them. Janet giggled. Everybody looked at her in astonishment. It’s with Sid she said. He’s the same as we saw him in the Easter hols. Talks very seldom, stiff, grave, and pious and we always seem to forget that he is with us. Janet hugged him and Sid gave her the peppermints. The bright sunshine falling down in the restless sea looking like gold floating in the water made a very beautiful sight. They rowed and rowed and at last they reached Green Island. It was a beautiful sight too wih trees and greenery all around them.Lets fix the tent said George. They fixed the tent and went into it. It was nice and cosy. I’m hungry said Pippa.Me too said George.Okay then lets have a little snack said Roberta. I’ll squeeze some lemons and make some lemonade.I’ll cut fruits said Janet. And I,ll boil some eggs. They had their snack with them . When they finished they rested a bit . Lets have a swim in the said Jack .I feel hot

Yes lets have .They went to the

Pool and dived in the water and swam a long time. Roberta swam the best. Pippa couldn’t swim. And the others swam good but not like Roberta. When they went home they were very hungry. They had their lunch. They had a nap. When they woke they went to bathe in the sea.Pippa bathed a little because she was afraid of water .She went into the tent. Janet made a sandiculture of Pippa and called her. She looked at it and laughed. This way the night came. At night George heard a voice. It sounded as if it was coming from a tree. The sound was like-coo-hoo-hooooo-ho-co-cooooo.Then he saw a light coming from a tree. He thought he should wake the twins. He woke the twins. Can you hear the voices he said . Er_ _ _ _ _ _ _ ye_ _ s_ _ _ said Jim. I think _ _ _ w_ _ e

_ _ _ m_ _ _ ust go to h_ _ ome to_ morr_ ow_.Little coward said George. We must solve this mystery.Yes, George is right, said Jack. Now let’s go to sleep. We’ll explore around that tree in the morning. They slept like logs in the night and when they woke they didn’t know where they were. Roberta woke the first. Then the twins. Then the others also woke one by one. When they tried to wake Pippa she yawned and said ‘ Mmmm mother, let me sleep for another five minutes. I’ll have my breakfast later’. Okay , okay but I’m NOT your mothersaid Sid. And just then Pippa woke. Everybody laughed. And Pippa said that she did’nt understood that she was in the tent. I’m hungry said the twins. What’s there for breakfast ? I’ll heat some milk said Pippa. And I’ll cut some fruits said Janet. AndI’ll make some sand wiches said Roberta. Will that do? When they were having their breakfast suddenly George remembered the night’s happenings. And then he poured out the whole story.Ooooooooh is’nt it exciting said Pippa. Yes it is said Sid.I’d want to explore around that tree said Roberta. I’d want that too said Janet. We were just thinking of that said said Jack.Janet leaned at thewindow and saw a farmer’s wife coming She came to them and talked to them. ‘Did’nt see what happened last night’ she said. Yes we saw it said Jim. Are’nt you afraid then she said. You should go back home.Okay we’ll go home said Jack. Yes, she said there might ghosts and ghosts are very dangerous. She said this much and went away.Nice old lady, is’nt she said Pippa.I don’t think so said Sid exasperated with Pippa’s brains. Country women don’t have false teeth made of gold which I noticed clearly he said. And they don’t have their hands pale as a lily. They always have brown hands because they have plenty of work to do.I think she’s one crooks trying to scare us away. Yes, but why did tell you’re going home. I told because I wanted her to go away said Jack. Now lets have swim said Roberta. I want that too said Janet. They all had a swim . Let’s go to the tree and explore around it said Pippa. They all went out of their tent and walked near to the tree. They looked around it carefully and suddenely Roberta noticed a ditch in the ground with a lid and a ring to move it. Yes, she shouted. I’ve got it. Everybody looked in astonishment. Then Janet said that that they should remove the lid and get into it. They removed the lid.It was very heavy. They went inside. There are stairs to go down said Pippa. They went downstairs. I think we’re in an underground passage said Janet . It smells very musty here . It echoed

all around the cave – very musty here- very musty here- very musty here. They walked along the cave. It’s a long way is’nt it? said Jim. And sudenely he saw a bed made of pure gold, a box full of diamond rings, pearl necklaces a gold barrel, ancient kings’ dresses and five gold statues. Hey, said Jack I think these things were stolen from a

museum called Acient I read it in the newspaper. Yes , well done Jack said Roberta. They heard some footsteps coming. Quick hide said Roberta. Pippa, Jim , Jack and Sid hide behind the statues with me. Janet, hide behind the barrel, you George lie down on the bed and cover your face with the blanket. They all hid very nicely.

Two men came. One of them was the man who dressed like a farmer’s wife to scare the children away. The other man was a tall and a burly man. I scared those children away said the man who dressed like a farmer’s wife. You did well Jake said the other man. Now we can steal something more from that museum.

What will I steal this time Charlie ? asked Jake. This time you will steal the gold mirror .I’ll give you one thousand pounds said Charlie. Okay Charlie said Jake and they went off. Now lets go away from here. We’ll raft back to the jetty and report this to the Town square. We don’t the police station in Green Island whispered Roberta. They all got out of their hiding places and out of the underground passage.I am feeling nice to get into fresh air again .It was musty underground.said Janet. They went into the tent.Lets pack the things said Jim.They packed their things and jumped in the twins’ raft and rowed strongly. What a beautiful sight said Sid.Water and water all around you and birds flying in the blue sky and trees and hills everywhere.Give us each a peppermint Sid said Pippa.Sid gave everybody each a peppermint. They reached the jetty at last .They jumped out of the raft and tied it to a tree and ran to the police station. They told their story to the police and went back home. The twins’ mother was in the garden plucking blue berries. She was astonished to see the children .What happened?she asked .The children told her what happened. She smiled and said What a brave gang you are.I am proud of you.Five minutes later there came a knock at the door.Jack opened the door.It was the policeman.Well done he said .I’ve come here to tell you that Jake and Charlie are safely locked up in jail and from today your name is The Scary Seven because anybody couldn’t scare you but you scared them away.Three Cheers for The Scary seven.Hip hip hurray

Kanheri Caves

The Kanheri Caves are located north of Borivili on the western outskirts of Mumbai, India deep within the green forests of Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Kanheri comes from the Sanskrit word Krishnagiri generally meaning black in colour. They were chiseled out of a massive basaltic rock of outcropping.
These caves date from 1st Century B.C. to 9th Century A.D. This cave is built by cutting the rocky mountains. Inside the cave thare are beautiful carved structures of the apsaras{in Hindu mythology they were believed to be beautiful dancers in heaven for entertaining the Gods} , the Buddha and his disciples and other Gods. These carvings were done by the Buddhist monks. The cave was their monastery. Along with the incredible carvings there are also 'stupas'. The 'stupas' have the relics of Lord Buddha. The cave is spread over a vast area. Underneath the cave the Buddhists had also made water storing facilities.

Know your land: Meghalaya

Meghalaya is a beautiful scenic state. The word Meghalaya means “abode of Clouds”. Exactly like its name Meghalaya is a wet and cloudy state. It is in the North East part of India. It lies near Assam. It is one of India’s youngest state after its split from Assam. It may be a dazzling mosaic of cross- cultural diversity today in its busy townships, but its original settlers made their homes in habitations that clung to the misty heights and verdant lowlands of the Garo, Jaintia and Khasi hills. The Garos of the Bodo family of the Tibeto-Burman stock reside in the Garo hills, the Khasis of the Mon-Khmer group and famed for their great stone memorials and the Jaintias who migrated from southeast Asia settled in the northern and southern plains. Today , people may speak English, and a majority of the population may practice Christianity, but the music of the Khasi and Jaintia hills is a seamless blend of western and tribal culture.
Agricultarists by tradition, the people of Meghalaya are also reputed for their weaving skills. And though hard working they also know how to enjoy with wonderful music , dance and good food. It’s capital Shillong is a beautiful hill station at 1496 m. It is also called the “ Scotland of the East”. It is known worldwide for its Golf Course which is one of the wettest and the best golf course in the country.
